1st Hillcrest scouts taxi 2Members of the 1st Hillcrest Scout Group changed the lives of taxi commuters in their areas by cleaning up the Hillcrest taxi rank and planting nine indigenous trees.

The youths decided to give back to their community and to lead by example as they spent an afternoon enthusiastically removing the litter and planting the trees. 1st Hillcrest Scout, Brad Stokes said “The Scouts thought this would be a valuable community project as the taxi commuters will really benefit in a few years’ time when the trees are mature, attract bird life and offer much needed shade”.

Their efforts met with the firm approval of regular taxi rank users who congratulated them on their community service with some even volunteering to assist. (MOP 2013)
