Painting the lion Purple

Scouts paint the lion purple

Mathew Broadley

On Thursday the 30th of October Scouts in the Western Cape will strive to beat their 2013 record of Climbing up Lions’ Head with 134 Scouts. The Painting the Lion Purple Event was initiated by two Scouters Morgan Irwin and Mathew Broadley in a bid to bring Scouting back into the public eye. For the month of October they hiked up the iconic Lions Head every Thursday with fellow Scouts dressed in purple SSA branded clothing.

In the Western Cape around 3000 children, youth and adults engage in creative, adventurous and fun outdoor activities on a weekly basis. The programmes are based on the principle of learning by doing, encouraging self-esteem.

We would like to invite members and hiking enthusiasts to join us in climbing the mountain on Thursday evening. We meet at the base of Lion’s Head at 17h00 and climb it at your own pace. More info: Baldrick@FirstPinelands.org
