Camping taught me to stay away for a weekend without my parents

This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. With a few more weeks to go until Akela 2016 we are rounding up our 100 interviews with Cubs and Cubbing alumni. We spoke to Kuhle Kamana  (9) from the Commscouts Cub Pack in the Eastern Cape South.

Web GirlSSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
Cubbing is fun because I have learnt lots of things especially outdoors!

SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experience was cooking my own food in camp.

SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge was cooking without a pot.

SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The Horse Riding Academy.

SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I have learnt how to sow my own badges, cook without a stove, sleep in a tent without bed or mattress, stay away for a weekend without my parents, make a fire on my own and doing skits at a campfire.

SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
My Pack gave food to people living in the streets.

SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum how to cook with a tin foil.

SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela teaches me new things on how to care for the environment

SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because he is full of fun yhooo..,.,

Cubbing Rocks because … we are not too young to do Cub stuff and become a good Scout as time goes on.
