Patrol Report
In these last two terms, we have gone through a bit of a transition period. We’ve sadly lost a few of our senior scouts, shuffled our patrols around and got a new patrol leader, me. It’s not all as bad as it seems because we are making the most of it and facing these new challenges head on.
The Kudus and Zebras are 1st Durbanville’s first official mixed patrol. This also has its challenges, but nothing we can’t handle well except for the patrol meetings where we learn about the latest computer technology. I didn’t realise how little I actually know about technology, but that’s why my patrols there I guess.
We might not have the physically strongest patrol or have the best super troopers, but we are by far the smartest and coolest patrol. We have been blessed with some academically inclined guys and our lack of physical strength is not necessarily a bad thing as people often underestimate us. So when we win the victory is so much sweeter. We also like to tackle most challenges with a more strategic and logical point of view which is definitely working for us so far.
During these last two terms, we’ve just being trying to get to know each other and find our own groove. We’ve had two great patrol evenings and as a troop went on Gordon which we did pretty well at considering our numbers and we went on a troop hike up Kanonkop.
I would like to say welcome to all our new scouts to the troop and to Ruahan who just joined our patrol. I hope you can contribute to our awesomeness which I’m sure you will.
So I would like to thank my patrol for their never-ending dedication and spirit. 2008 has been a great year and hopefully 2009 will be even better as we strive to be a stronger and well-rounded patrol. So for next year, I expect you guys to go on all the badge courses possible and not only will you sharpen your scouting skills but you will meet some pretty cool people and make memories that will last a lifetime.
We are definitely rock stars and are ready to kick some major scout behinds so watch out, here comes the Kudus.
Robyn
