We arrived at Appleton at 6 pm. We just settled down and got our stuff in order and packed what we needed for the hike. At about half past 6 we set off to Lion’s Head. On our way to the mountain path we past a few Muslim graves and a Muslim temple. From then on the path got tough. It was climbing the steps at Fairmont except a little bit better and it doesn’t help when your friends are trying to throw you off the mountain. It was quite surprising how many people climb up Lion’s Head in the evening although they did hold us up. The path up was “Hell” but all of us survived although I nearly died but at least I had big shoes, which got stuck in the rocks and saved my life.

On the top we rested until we had regained some  energy to last us to the bottom of the mountain. All of us who started hiking at 6:30 had to wait at the top until the rest of the scouts who started hiking later got up. After relaxing on the top and admiring the stunning view we made our way back down the chains and had to wait at the bottom of the chains for half an hour for everyone to get down.

Finally, when everyone got down the chains we got on the move and took a different path down the mountain. The path was steep and it took a lot of energy away trying not to run down the mountain. The way back seemed longer than the way up and I started getting frustrated as hill after hill came and went. When we got back to Appleton at about half past 10 everyone was tired and eating the snacks they had brought. After we all had enough rest we watched a movie, (Pirates of the Caribbean-BORING) most of us had just watched half of it and went off to bed. We spent about 10min talking until everyone was asleep at 1:30.

In the morning we all played a good game of soccer until Steven started making up rules that you were allowed to “nudge” in soccer. The game then became rough but was still loads of fun. During our game of soccer with Peter standing on the side lines watching, who suddenly grabbed our ball and made us tidy up before the parents came to pick us up. I probably didn’t make this “review of our hike” sound very fun but it was lots of fun, it’s just that it’s hard to make it fun on a piece of paper. You would have had to been there to know what I mean!
