From Wednesday 13th July until Friday 15th July I held my first class camp at Glen Cairn. Kudus patrol joined us for the camp and it was twice as much fun with them there.

We departed from the scout hall at about 12:00 and arrived at Glen Cairn campsite at 13:30. When we arrived there I had to go and pick up the keys from the head office and sign some papers. That afternoon we spent setting up camp and we went for a walk to the beach. Supper was spaghetti bolognaise which was quick and easy to prepare. We played a stalking game which was enjoyed by all and Timothy was the winner in the end. He had to stalk up to gas lamp and turn it off without being seen. After the game we had a late pudding and went to bed.

The next morning we celebrated my 16th birthday with cake and candles. We then prepared and ate breakfast. We did some advancement after this. At lunch we all decided it was time to take a break from advancement and head for the beach. We spent most of the afternoon at the beach. At about 15:00 we walked back to camp and finished up on our pioneering. We built campsite gadgets and taught the younger scouts the lashings as we tied them.

That evening Kudus and Zebras joined for a big braai and campfire. I think either everyone enjoyed the food or they were just very hungry because there was nothing leftover. We had our campfire and then sat down in front of the TV to watch a movie. Lights out.

The next morning it was French toast for breakfast. Just after this we held a short Scouts Own. The rest of the morning was for relaxing and building sand castles on the beach.
