Congratulations to our fellow Scouts all over the African continent on this very special Africa Scout Day! Under the theme “Empowering Scouts for the Development of Africa”. The World Scout Movement in Africa has committed to enable 100 million young people to be active citizens, to “Create a Better World”.
In South Africa we are dedicated to the development of young people in achieving their full potential as individuals and responsible citizens. Central in our programmes is a continuous transference of values such as honesty, loyalty, responsibility, respect; all aimed at governing individual behaviour and the development of strong leadership skills that will equip members to be of service to others and to their communities. The training in leadership, hunger alleviation skills and exposure to the environment that the movement provides young people, further enhances our role in our current South African society.
The official African Scouting celebrations will be hosted by the Ghana Scout Association in Accra. For more information CLICK HERE,
This year also marks 100 years of Cub Scouting. SSA will be hosting the international Akela 2016 gathering in Johannesburg in August 2016. More information here.
