365 days to go for Japan Jamboree

こんにちはKonnichiwa

In exactly 365 days’ time, 28th July 2015, some 30,000 Scouts and 6,000 Adult leaders from across the world will gather in Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan for the opening ceremony of the 23rd World Scout Jamboree!

We have been overwhelmed with applications from Scouts from across the country who would like to attend the Jamboree and are delighted to advise that SCOUTS South Africa will be sending four Jamboree Troops to the 23rd World Scout Jamboree 2015.

In addition, a number of Adult Leaders who will make up the SSA Contingent Support Team and form part of the International Service Team, along with the 144 Scouts and 16 Adult Leaders in the four Jamboree Troops, will complete the SCOUTS South Africa Contingent of some 180 members representing South Africa.

The Jamboree will be held from Tuesday 28th July to Saturday 8th August 2015 and the theme for the Jamboree is “WA: a Spirit of Unity” – And that is exactly what Scouts can expect to experience at this once-in-a lifetime event!! Whether exploring the human development challenges that affect all nations and societies at the Global Development Village or simply sharing a meal with newfound friends from far-off parts of the world, the Jamboree is unique environment and will undoubtedly be a highlight of one’s Scouting experiences.

The Jamboree Programme will consist of three On-site Module Activities (Global Development Village, Culture and Science) and four Off-site Module Activities (Nature, Community, Water and the Hiroshima Peace Programme) as well as Sub Camp Life, all of which will be great fun as well as educational and encompass the three Jamboree concepts, “Energy”, “Innovation” and “Harmony”, associated with the Jamboree programme that reflects “WA”, the Jamboree theme.
