I learnt not to smoke drugs

This year we are celebrating 100 years of Cubbing worldwide. Throughout South Africa adult leaders have been volunteering their time and knowledge to inspire children to be the best they can be. We asked Unathi Makunupi (10) from 1st Isago Cub Pack in the Northern Cape about her Cubbing journey.

unathiSSA: Why is Cubbing so much fun?
We read stories and play games. That is fun!

SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experience was when I learnt how to respect people.

SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge for me was cooking!

SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
Queens Park in Kimberley was the most amazing place!

SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learnt prayers and also a few things about first aid. I also learnt not to smoke drugs and to pray every day.

SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
We went to an old age home to spend some time with the old people there.

SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum some prayers and how to work with a compass.

SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A person who loves children and respects other people!

SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because he teaches us everything we do not know.

Cubbing Rocks because … it is FUN!
