As SCOUTS SA’s National Volunteer Recognition Week draws to an end, this appreciation post is dedicated to the Parents and especially the Scouters that volunteer of their time.

Volunteering is not for the faint-hearted and being a Scouter is most definitely not for everyone. We sacrifice (a lot) of our time for the purpose and greater good of Scouts. We spend late nights and whatever free time we have planning programmes, activities and camps. Camps and activities are important for the advancement of the Scouts, and Scouters often need take to personal leave from work to ensure that those activities are run effectively, often going over and above what is required from them.

We often miss family and social events to give our time to Scouts. The process is not always an easy or a great one, but the outcome most definitely is! We do what we do for the love of Scouting and what it stands for. We get to see how different personalities grow and overcome fear, learn new skills and become leaders. That in itself, is payment and reward!

Thank you to all Scouters and Adults for being involved in a Movement that helps shape the lives of our youth!
