Africa Scout Day, celebrated annually on 13 March, unites Scouts across the continent in a shared celebration of service, leadership, and African identity.
Every year, the event is hosted by a different Member Organization, and this year, from 12 to 15 March 2026, SCOUTS South Africa will bring together Scouts from different countries for a Patrol-based, 3-day camp in Johannesburg for the 16th Africa Scout Day, under the theme “Strong Roots. Bright Future.” This theme reflects the strength drawn from our Scouting values, African heritage, and community traditions, while looking forward with hope to a future shaped by empowered, responsible young people.
Let’s celebrate Africa Scout Day in our Groups and Districts too
To help Scout Groups bring this celebration to life, we’ve put together a Resource Pack with ideas, activities, and programmes on a plate that can be adapted and combined to create meaningful Africa Scout Day events.
These activities are designed to be flexible and fun, and encourage Scouting members of all ages to work together, learn from one another, and celebrate the richness of Africa’s cultures, environments, and people. The Resource Pack is being shared with Groups all around Africa so we can all enjoy the fun together within our own Groups!
We encourage our Dens, Packs, and Troops to run an Africa Scout Day programme and include some of the activities from the Resource Pack – or / and to use the Africa Scout Day programmes-on-a-plate for their branch.
Event badges for SCOUTS SA members will be available through the National Shop for all who joined in the fun!
