Sharing the Scout impact on Cape Talk

A sincere thank you to Clarence Ford and the CapeTalk team for the opportunity to talk about the impact of Scouting world-wide, and to David Berg, Secretary General of World Scouting, for joining the conversation.

One of the strongest messages from the interview was that Scouting offers young people a meaningful alternative to screen time. At a time when research continues to highlight concerns around excessive device use, social isolation and declining wellbeing, Scouting creates opportunities for real human connection, outdoor adventure, meaningful friendships and a true sense of belonging.

The 2nd Africa Scout Moot has been a powerful example of this in action. The most memorable moments haven’t been on a screen, but around campfires, on hiking trails, in canoes, through community service projects and in conversations with new friends from across Africa and the world.

Through learning by doing, teamwork and service, Scouting empowers young people to build confidence, strengthen their mental wellbeing and become active citizens who don’t wait for change—they lead it.

Thank you for helping us highlight the important role Scouting continues to play in developing confident and capable young people who are #ReadyForLife
