There is still time to nominate a candidate to serve as the next Chief Scout of SCOUTS South Africa.
The term of our current Chief Scout, Mr Khonzaphi Mdaka, comes to an end in February 2027. As we prepare for this transition, the Scout Board is inviting members of SCOUTS South Africa to nominate individuals to serve as our next Chief Scout.
The Chief Scout is an important volunteer servant leadership role, calling for a person with strong leadership and communication skills, a commitment to servant leadership, and a deep understanding of Scouting and its role in a changing South Africa.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong record of active Scouting, leadership experience, integrity and a commitment to the Scout Law and Promise, together with the ability to inspire and unite our diverse Movement around a shared vision for the future.
Who can be nominated?
Candidates must have:
- A minimum of 10 years of registered adult volunteer experience within SCOUTS South Africa.

- Leadership experience and a demonstrated commitment to the Scout Law and Promise.
- Integrity and the ability to work with and inspire others.
- A commitment to the continued development of Scouting in South Africa.
- National or Regional leadership experience is advantageous.
Have someone in mind?
If you know a Scouter who has the experience, character, vision and commitment to serve as our next Chief Scout, consider putting their name forward. This is an important opportunity to help shape the future leadership of Scouting in South Africa.
