National Challenge 2026 ‘Be Water Safe’

waterThe National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) reports that South Africa experiences approximately 1,484 drownings every year. This makes water safety one of the most important life skills for all young people.

In 2026, SCOUTS South Africa is taking action with the ‘Be Water Safe’ National Challenge! From rivers and dams to pools and the ocean, Scouting members will learn how to stay safe, build confidence around water, and respond responsibly in emergencies.

This challenge supports the global Scouts for SDGs initiative, helping children and young adults make a real difference by promoting good health, quality education, and safer communities while having fun and learning skills that last a lifetime.
