On Sunday, 22 February 2026, Scouts and volunteers across the world will celebrate Founder’s Day, honouring the birthday of Scouting founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell whose vision sparked the global Scout Movement.
Here in South Africa, this is a moment to reflect on who we are and what we stand for. Our Movement is deeply grounded in values of integrity, respect, service, honour, and compassion. These principles have shaped generations of young people and continue to guide us as we respond to the needs of our communities today.
This weekend, we will celebrate the achievements of our members around the country who live out these values in meaningful ways. From Gold Star Meerkats and Leaping Wolf Cubs to Springbok Scouts, BP Awards, Service Awards, Merit Awards, and many other recognitions. We will take the time honour our adult volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure young people are ready for life, and we will recognise our youth for doing their very best and achieving their badges and awards.
In a world facing complex challenges, through dedicated service, our volunteers equip young people with practical skills, resilience, empathy, and a commitment to making a positive difference. We are proud to be an inclusive Scout Movement in South Africa, welcoming young people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Our diversity is our strength, and our shared commitment to service unites us in a common purpose.
On Friday, 20 February 2026, we encourage all members to wear their Scout uniforms or SCOUTS SA branded t-shirts to work or school and share their Scouting stories with pride. Let’s make visible the impact of a Movement grounded in values and dedicated to changing lives.
